Step 1

Discovering Your Purpose, Gifts, and How You Connect With God

Step 2

Spiritual Gifts, Sacred Pathways, and Personality Assessments

Now we would like to invite you to take the three assessments Pastor Waylon and Pastor Dana spoke about in the video. These are great tools to identify ways you might wish to serve at Zion City. There is a link to each below. *Special Note: Please record your results somewhere so that you can include those in the 1.0 Connection Form at the end of this portion of Next" should be centered on the page.

Step 4

What Does Zion City Believe?

As a community, we encourage all volunteers to partner with us in serving our community and each other. Zion City NEXT is designed so that participants can be fully informed and in unity with the church, giving everyone clarity and purpose in service.

Partners at Zion City are asked to:

  • Protect the unity of the church
  • Share the responsibility of the church
  • Serve the ministry of the church
  • Support the testimony of the church

"…that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me." (John 17:21-23)

It is so very exciting to be servant-leaders in the Body of Christ, but it is also a big responsibility. As leaders in our church, all of us at Zion City are being mutually transformed to be more like Jesus, and in that, we diligently seek to represent our Lord in ways that are uplifting and sanctifying. We display this in what we eat, drink, and in what we say, always mindful that we are upholders of the Law of God and the law of the land.

With this in mind, Zion City requires its leaders to abstain from:

  • Profanity
  • Indulging in much wine or other alcoholic beverages
  • Illicit Drugs
  • Pornography
  • Sexual Immorality

"Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour." (1 Peter 5:8)
"Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body." (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
"Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother." (Romans 14:13)

Zion City celebrates the union of one man and one woman in a covenant bond before God and in accordance with municipal laws and ordinances. Marriage was instituted by God and is beautifully displayed with Him at the center.

"And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said,

“This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh." (Genesis 2:22-24)

"But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh." (Mark 10:6-8)

Likewise, and because of this celebration of marriage, Zion City believes in the sanctity of marriage as God defines it.

"Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous." (Hebrews 13:4)

Our Father is a very generous Father. He has given us all that we need for now and for eternity and asks nothing in return. It is our honor to give back to the work of God through the church, and we give from the abundance of His gifts to us. We operate under the principle of the tithe, not the law of the tithe, remembering that tithing is a way for us to demonstrate that we trust God in all things.

"Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine." (Proverbs 3:9-10)

"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Matthew 6:21)

"And he sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny. And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”" (Mark 12:41-44)

When you give, people get clothes, fed, hygiene products, and baby essentials. 7,143 people have received resources through Zion City Care Center.

When you give, people get the opportunity to hear the gospel. We have seen salvations on each campus.

When you give, prisoners are restored. We minister four prisons: Red Rock Correctional Facility, Pima County Jail, and the Arizona State Prison in both the Tucson and Yuma locations. Twenty-four individuals previously incarcerated have been mentored.

Giving is one of the central themes in the Bible. The greatest display of giving is found in God giving His only Son Jesus, so it's also important that we understand what it means to be a giver.

What is tithing?

Tithing is bringing to God the first 10% of your income by giving to your local church. Tithing is more less about your money and more about your heart.

"Malachi 3:10 "Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of host, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need."

An offering is anything given over and beyond your tithe.

"2 Corinthians 9:6-8 "The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loved a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. As it is written, "He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever."

It's important to understand that we are called to give with a cheerful heart as the Holy Spirit leads us.
