your child take the next step toward baptism.

What is Water Baptism?

Water baptism is a meaningful milestone that celebrates your child’s personal decision to follow Jesus. It is a public declaration of faith and an important step in their journey of following Him.

Is My Child Ready for Baptism?

Parents play an important role in discerning when a child is ready for baptism. As you consider your child’s readiness, these questions may help guide the conversation.

their daily life?

Age and Readiness Considerations

There is no specific age requirement for baptism. However,
children and youth should be able to:

Step 1

Comfortably stand with their head and shoulders above the water.

Step 2

Hold their
breath briefly
underwater.

Step 3

Get in and out of the
baptism tank on
their own.

If Your Child Isn’t Ready Yet

  • If you sense that your child may not be quite ready yet, that’s okay. Continue encouraging their faith, allow them to ask questions, and let them observe others taking this step.
  • Baptism is a significant moment in a believer’s journey, and it is worth waiting until their heart and understanding are ready so it becomes a meaningful milestone they can remember.
